Botsa: State can convene Assembly

The PCC chief, Mr Botsa Satyanarayana, said on Thursday that the state government was ready to convene the Assembly to adopt a resolution on the 34 per cent reservation quota for BCs if the need arose.
Briefing the media after a three-hour long meeting with the Chief Minister, ministers and DCC presidents at Gandhi Bhavan regarding the effective implementation of welfare schemes launched by the government, Mr Satyanarayana said that the government was considering to file an appeal before an appropriate court on the need to continue the BC quota in panchayati raj elections.
He said that during the meeting, the need to take forward the welfare schemes launched by Congress more effectively to the people including creating awareness and sufficient publicity of the same was emphasised.
“Several thousands of crores of rupees are being spent on schemes by the government but there is a need to create awareness among people,” he said, adding that he had instructed all the district party units to bring to his and the government’s notice about any deficiencies and lapses in the schemes being implemented.
Mr Botsa said that he had also asked the ministers to visit DCC offices at least once in a month to bridge the gap between the party and the government.
