Lagadapati should apologise:DCC

KARIMNAGAR: The District Congress Committee general body meeting has strongly condemned the derogatory remarks made by Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajgopal against Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar and demanded unconditional withdrawal of remarks.
The meeting was held at the Congress party office here on Monday and chaired by Minister for Civil Supplies D. Sridhar Babu and District Co-operative Credit Bank (DCCB) chairman and District Congress Committee (DCC) coordinator K. Ravinder Rao. Peddapalli MP G. Vivekanand, Zilla Parishad chairman A. Laxman Kumar, legislators A. Mohan and, A. Praveen Reddy and other party members attended.
Briefing newsmen, DCC co-ordinator K Ravinder Rao said that in the meeting a resolution was passed urging Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Botcha Satyanarayana to take disciplinary action against the Vijayawada MP for his derogatory remarks against the Karimnagar MP. In the meeting, it was also decided that the Vijaywada MP should apologisefor insulting the people of Telangana with his statements. The leaders have also warned the Vijayawada MP of serious action if he does not mend his ways.
Hailing the appointment of Backward Class leader Botcha Satyanarayana as PCC president and D. Rajanarasimha as Deputy Chief Minster, the members in the meeting also thanked Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy for bring in an ordinance for the protection of tenant farmers and distribution of farm loans to them.
Expressing concern over poor publicity of several welfare schemes initiated by the state and central governments, it was decided in the meeting that a special campaign would be launched to educate people about the welfare schemes. They also decided to intensify developmental programmes and grounding of welfare programmes such as housing schemes and providing irrigation facilities to the land distributed to the SC\STs in the district.
Party leaders have also decided to play an active part in the distribution of crop loans to farmers and laudachievement of women Indira Kranthi Patham (IKP) groups in the district for a record paddy production in the state. Town president Kanne Krishna, PCC secretary Y. Sunil Rao, BC cell chairman A. Anand, SC cell chairman A. Mallesham and others were present.
