Nagam a kati patang: Desam

June 20: Telugu Desam (TD) on Monday described the suspended party MLA Nagam Janardhan Rao and his group “kati patang” (severed kite) and it could land up anywhere. “Nagam Janardhan Reddy's group is a kati patang which has lost its bearings. The kite, whose string was broken, can land up on any tree,” said Gone Hanumanta Rao, TD district unit president. The TD cadre and leaders took out a rally here on Monday and staged a dharna over problems faced by farmers.
MP Ramesh Rathod, Khanapur MLA Suman Rathod and Boath MLA Gadam Nagesh took part in the dharna at the collectorate. Speaking at the dharna, Mr Hanumanta Rao criticised Nagam Janardhan Reddy’s group for not working under the party banner and opposing putting up of party flags at the Telangana meetings when the TRS, BJP and other parties kept their party flags and were fighting under their party banners. Mr Ramesh Rathod reiterated that the TD was committed to a separate Telangana state and was fighting for the cause with commitment unlike other parties. He alleged that the state government had failed in supplying cotton seeds and fertilisers, causing a huge losses to farmers. He said that only 35 lakh Bt cotton seed packets were supplied against the required 65 lakh in the state.
He said that the state government had failed to give compensation for crop damage caused by floods last year and only Rs 10 crore compensation was paid to farmers in the district while proposals for Rs 60 crore were sent to the state government. Boath MLA Gadam Nagesh alleged that officials concerned had failed in controlling the diversion of Bt cotton seed to the black market and illegal transportation of seeds and fertilisers to bordering Maharashtr.
