Telugu Desam to launch two-day stir in support of farmers' problems

ONGOLE: In an effort to get closer to peasants, the Telugu Desam Party on Wednesday decided to launch agitations in different parts of Prakasam district on June 23 and 24. This was decided at the first meeting of the party office-incharges after revamping of the party apparatus by party president N Chandrababu Naidu last week.
“We have to stand by distressed farmers, including paddy and tobacco growers who are struggling to get remunerative price for their produce and also farm inputs on time due to indifferent attitude of the Congress government,'' TDP State vice-president K Balaramakrishnamurthy said while addressing the party leaders and preparing the partymen for a dharna in front of the Collector's office on Thursday.
Exhorting the party functionaries to work hard for strengthening of the party at the grassroots level, TDP district president D Janardhan said “we shall meet every week in each of the 12 Assembly constituencies and to review threadbare various issues concerning people and the party.'' TDP Polit Bureau member S. Ragava Rao, party district general secretary Y Srinivasa Yadav, and party Ongole Lok Sabha constituency incharge M M Kondiah were among those present.
