CM ready for PR polls at any time

The Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, on Thursday said the Congress was ready to face the panchayat raj elections whenever they take place.
The Chief Minister, while explaining the legal hurdles coming in the way of holding polls to his ministerial colleagues in the Cabinet meet, said the government would hold elections once the courts cleared the way.
Sources told this newspaper that the Chief Minister was in no rush to issue an ordinance imposing the rule of special officers in the PR bodies. Rushing an ordinance will leave a scope for the Opposition parties to portray as if the government is shying away from polls, he said.
The CM said that the government would wait till middle of July for the term of the elected PR bodies to end. When a ministers tried to broach the issue of whether or not to hold polls on party basis, the Chief Minister cut him short saying that the discussion would be irrelevant as there were no elections as of now.
The CM sought to clear air on the alleged misunderstanding between him and some ministers which he said was purely a media creation. Maintaining that reshuffle of bureaucrats was a routine administrative exercise, he dismissed reports that the finance minister, Mr Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, was upset over transfer of finance secretaries.
When the labour minister, Mr Danam Nagender, complained about officials ignoring ministers, the latter pacified him stating that the transfers were effected because of complaints by the ministers.
