Botsa to toe T-line of high command

Though the new PCC president, Mr Botsa Satyanarayana, had earlier said he had no objections to the state’s bifurcation, on Wednesday he made it clear that it was solely the Congress central leadership’s decision and the whole party would abide by it. Participating in a “meet the press” programme organised by APUWJ here, Mr Satyanarayana said the Telangana statehood issue needed to be decided as early as possible as further delays in the matter would hamper the state’s development besides continuing the political uncertainty.
While admitting that there was nothing wrong with a Telugu-speaking state being divided as there were 10 Hindi-speaking states, he said: “But now as PCC chief it is my duty to gather opinions from people representing different regions on the issue and appraise the party high command as and when necessary.” He also hoped that in the next reshuffle of the state Cabinet, key portfolios among ministers representing different social groups would be equally balanced. “Even the Chief Minister agreed and has assured us that he will rectify the matter in due course,” Mr Satyanarayana said. Pointing out that in states like Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and West Bengal, PCC chiefs were occupying dual posts, he said a decision regarding his continuance as minister would be taken by the high command and till such time he would continue in both posts.
