JAC tries to disrupt BJP meet

June 21: BJP workers chased away the leaders of Joint Action Committee of Samaikhya Andhra at the meeting on corruption which was addressed by the BJP state president, Mr G Kishan Reddy, at Vuda Children’s Theatre here on Tuesday. Soon after the prayer was completed before the start of the meeting, the JAC lea-ders barged inside the meeting hall and took out the placards of Samaikhya Andhra.
The BJP national council member and former MLA, Mr K Haribabu asked them to leave the hall and when they resisted, the BJP workers pushed them out. The JAC leaders after coming out of the hall tried to squat on the road to protest. But their attempt was failed. Police who were present at the venue brought the situation under control and asked the JAC leaders to leave the area. JAC leaders told the reporters that they were protesting against the BJP support to separate Telangana.
Meanwhile, Mr Kishan Reddy, addressing the meeting, said the party would support the civil society movement against corruption. “BJP will support anybody who raises voice against corruption,” Mr Reddy said. Condemning the violence unleashed against the Yoga guru Baba Ramdev, he said the Congress leaders claiming to be Gandhians brought shame to the country. Mr Hari Babu said Indian democracy has witnessed three movements against corruption. The 1975 emergency brought the Opposition to the power when Jayaprakash Narayan launc-hed a nation-wide campaign and the second phase when NDA ousted Congress soon after Bofors scandal broke out. “This is the third phase and the people will teach a lesson to the Congress in 2014 elections,” Mr Haribabu said.
